Seasons of Qi — Privacy Policy

Seasons of Qi (“the app”) is published by the Onenergy Institute Society, a non-profit organization. This policy explains what the app does with your information.
The short version
The app has no accounts and no sign-in, and the Onenergy Institute Society does not collect any personal information through it. The app shows ads provided by Google AdMob, and Google may collect some device information to show and measure those ads, as described below.
What the app keeps on your device
The app saves three settings on your own phone:
- whether you want a notification when a new solar term begins
- the time of day for that notification
- which year’s dates to show
These settings never leave your device. Uninstalling the app deletes them.
Notifications
If you turn on reminders, the app schedules notifications on your phone for the first morning of each solar term. The schedule is made on the device. No server is involved, and nothing is sent anywhere. You can turn reminders off in the app’s Settings, or in your phone’s settings.
Internet and links
The app’s calendar, text and images are inside the app and work offline. When you are online, the app downloads an updated list of onenergy.info article links, and ads are loaded from Google.
When you tap Visit onenergy.info, the privacy policy, or the contact email, the app opens your web browser or email app. What happens on the website is covered by the onenergy.info privacy policy. The link includes a label (for example utm_source=solarterms_app) so the website can count visits that came from the app. The label contains no personal information.
Advertising
The app shows one small ad on each solar-term page, provided by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, Google’s advertising software may collect your device’s advertising ID, general device and app information (such as device model, operating system and app version), approximate location derived from your IP address, and how you interact with the ad. This information is collected by Google, not by the Onenergy Institute Society. Google’s use of it is described in Google’s privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before personalized ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time under Settings → About Seasons of Qi → Ad privacy choices. On iPhone, the app asks for your permission before any tracking (Apple’s “Allow tracking” prompt), and you can change it at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID in Settings → Google → Ads.
The app also shows cards that link to articles on onenergy.info. These are our own content, and they collect no information.
Children
The app is intended for a general adult audience. It is not directed at children, and ads are limited to content suitable for all ages.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
